Israel Part II...

I had the holiday as an excuse to do some work for myself and I got some more images from Isreal together to post here. These images are talking a little bit about the experience of newness, combined with a bizzare reconnect with heritage and so forth. They feel a bit more relevant to me than the previous post, which is perhaps why I sat on them for a while longer.

bragging rights....

Ok... this is too cool not to post. A week ago, I shot a promo event for a new Anheuser-Busch beverage called Peels... and while I thought they turned out fantastic and so forth, this is the response email they sent me ... pasted exactly from my email.

" These are fantastic! In fact, our boss just said you were the best photographer we've worked with. Looking forward to seeing the CD and working together in the future. -- Laura"

Mind you, this email was sent from the corporate offices at Anheuser-Busch. YEA!!! I rock.

So... here are three of my favorites... if you click on one of them, you will be taken to the gallery I made for them with the whole presentation. How fun!

Gone for the weekend...

OK ... as I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my computer to auto send an email response to all reciepients, I am just going to blog whenever I am going to be especially hard to get in touch with, so that you all know. (By the way, if anyone knows how to get the horde mail program to auto reply, please let me know!) Anyway, I will be gone until Monday, like most weekends, so if you are trying to get in touch with me, here are two reasons I may not respond until Monday: #1: My DSL has not been working well since we changed internet providers... so I can't currenly use my normal email program. #2: I will be out of phone service range for most of the weekend.

SO... the moral of the story is that I will return shortly... :)

ALSO... I changed the ol' website again... let me know what you think of my newest design!

Israel Part I...

So as many of you know, I recently was fortunate enough to visit Israel... I am posting these first images maybe as an introduction... I clearly took lots of photographs, but because of the hospital thing, I was cut a little bit short. I have some more batches coming up soon... I am excited about some images I collected at a war memorial near the Syrian border... and I am uploading all of the pictures of people I know to my online lab place so that people can get copies... I will update with that info soon... in the meantime... here are some more scenic photographs...

Ok... I'm tired and its late... I am working on editing the rest, so they will be done soon...

Here's a concept...

How about posting fun images of me and my friends rather than work-related pictures... hehe... I have lots of pictures of Israel that I am slowly doing something with, but here are the fun pictures of me and some of my new friends...

ARGH!!

Well, Israel was beautiful... and I was able to enjoy it for the first half of my trip. THEN... I fell ill and I spent the second half of my trip in the hospital ... so.

I am frantically playing catch up over here, but please be patient with me: I am low on energy and I am having to go to the doctor every day since I have been back. I am in the progress of posting my new pricelist for 2007 and will have that up shortly.

I am slowly getting to my emails and voicemails while I was gone, but I am having to prioritize, so again, your patience is appreciated. :)

I am fine and I probably just had a violent allegic reaction to something, so please don't worry. BUT in any event, for the time being, that is my update. I will post more soon, once I have attended to your emails and so forth...

I love you all and you will be able to get in touch with me very soon! (Monday or Tuesday is better than this weekend.) Thanks!!

slowly making progress...

So, I have officially decided to defer graduate school regardless of what happens... it is taking too long to hear final responses. Time that I need to be scheduling with clients and sittings! As many of you know, I was invited to interview at all three prestegious schools that I applied for, which is an incredible feat in itself... but then I was waitlisted at all three. So far, SAIC has invited me back for the program (ie: accepted me) , but I do not know my final response from Yale or MassArt... SOO weddings and portraits will continue throughout next fall at the very least. Which is good news if you are someone who reads my blog... it means I am available to photograph you!

I have been working a lot lately on getting more portrait sittings: in the past, my emphasis has been on weddings, but I have been doing portrait sittings that correspond with them and they are turning out so well! I love working with people in a more intimate setting, and I have been fortunate enough to have lots of clients who are interested in my more casual, candid style of portraiture. In fact... here is a link to one of my new client slideshows for a portrait sitting: it features Zach's favorite song... and I am so thrilled with them! Check in them out: http://www.jessicahorwitz.com/portraitGallery/Zack/ZachSitting.html

And then, lastly, I have completly redone my website ... once again... a little bit indecisive perhaps? :) But it is all new ... very exciting for me... email me and let me know what you think! www.jessicahorwitz.com

Here are some really cute shots I got for Melissa and Jimmy's engagement sitting the other day. We are all excited about their wedding later this year...

on the road with the band...

Last month, I left for Montana to travel alongside Athens GA's Packway Handle Band... and I collected a good deal of images of the band. Obviously. They are fun boys and made for great subjects... ;)

I actually took lots of them... Soon, I will post a link here that goes to the entire collection, on their webpage. That's it for now.

traveling, traveling....

I apologise to anyone who actually has been looking at this... I have so many new images from all of the traveling I have been doing lately! I will update this more now that I am back home for a few weeks.

Nonetheless... before I left for Montana (that will be the next blog...) I was thrilled to photograph Jeremy's Bar Mitzvah at the Temple in Atlanta and I came back with some gems that I am posting here. Enjoy!
As many of you know, I have recenly applied to graduate school and I have been asked back for interviews at all three schools that I applied to, which is very exciting. Over the next few weeks, I will be interviewing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Yale and Mass Art, persuing a MFA in Photography. Good luck me! Please be patient with me... this puts me out of town frequently and makes me a very busy woman.
